In this video, I show you how to build wooden floating shelves by using interlocking furniture connector brackets for your bathroom. The beginning of the video consists of me removing an old storage cabinet from the wall and repairing the paint behind and around it.
I then move on to building the shelves. In the video, I actually use a 2X10 board, but 10 inches was too long for the shelves depth. So I ended up cutting 2 inches off to make it more of a 2X8 board.
Next, sanded the boards using an orbit sander, then stained them with a mixture of Malibu Grey and Golden Oak stains to try and match the vanity in the bathroom that the shelves went in.
Finally, I used chisels to carve out notches in the backs of the boards for the brackets and mounted their partner brackets to the walls.

About me: Hi! My name is Dane and I’m a stay at home Dad. I absolutely love staying at home with my two little boys. Since I started spending time at home with my boys, I’ve learned to DIY just about everything around the house to save money. In the last few years I’ve done an endless amount of projects during nap time including remodeling 3 bathrooms. I’ve also insourced other things like giving my dogs haircuts, making simple foods from scratch, landscaping projects, and more. I’ve realized how much money I save by doing home projects on my own, so I want to show you simple (and some more complicated) things that you can do too! I want to empower you to take some risks and learn something new – whether you want to save some cash, or just to have the satisfaction of completing the project yourself. Note: In the description, I’ve linked some of my favorite items that I use for my projects. Full disclosure - if you click these links and make a purchase, I get a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only will recommend products that I actually use and need! Thank you for the support. I hope you enjoy following along with my adventures as a DIY dad.
