White Point Beach

White Point Beach is below the steep bluffs at what is officially named “Whites Point” in the San Pedro District of Los Angeles. This small beach isn’t for sunbathing. It’s very popular with scuba divers at high tide and tidepoolers at low tide. It is also a good spot for beachcombing along the rocky shoreline that extends east to the point and around it when possible.

White Point Beach and Royal Palms Beach share the same entrance and are part of a park with their combined names. White Point-Royal Palms Park is located below West Paseo Del Mar between Point Fermin Park and Rancho Palos Verdes. At the bottom of the entrance road (Kay Fiorentino Drive) go left to the White Palms parking area where the beach is at the end (the road to the right goes to Royal Palms Beach).

A park with picnic tables and superb views is at the top of the bluff. The White Point Nature Preserve and Education Center is located across Paseo Del Mar and offers hiking trails around a Cold War Nike Missile Launch Pad and up to a couple concrete military battery gun emplacements.
