The project BCNM Experiments and Demonstrating Scale (BEADS) of Grameen Foundation India conducted a pilot to use low-cost marketing methods for the promotion of Business Correspondent (BC) Agents. The aim was to increase the viability of the BC agents.
WhatsApp Video was one of the methods adopted for this pilot. The BC Agents self-recorded a video, mentioning about themselves, their location and the financial product and services offered by them. These videos were circulated through the medium of WhatsApp to potential customers.
About BEADS:
BCNM Experiments and Demonstrating Scale (BEADS) is a project supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and executed by the Grameen Foundation to test and implement interventions for improving the viability of BC Agents and include more women BCs in the network. It introduced new microsavings products, low-cost customer awareness methods, change management and use of innovative technologies to empower customers and agents, especially women.
