Threw both a C0460 (steering position failure) and C0895 (device voltage malfunction) code from PSCM.
You may also wonder why I bought a full gear assembly and removed the motor rather than just buying a motor. I got the gear on eBay for $50 more shipped compared to a new motor from Amazon. Since this is a daily driver in my family I needed a fix quick and had ordered the gear before confirming the motor shaft was broken. Added bonus is I have an extra gear laying around for future fixes!
