GPT-5 was expected in August but OpenAI releases models on Thursdays, making August 7th the earliest possible date. Sam Altman warned of server issues and capacity problems coming with new releases, which is normal when major AI models launch. The real question isn't when GPT-5 arrives, but whether most people actually need it since current models like GPT-4 are already excellent for everyday tasks.
