If you pray Morning Prayer often enough you’ll find that... each day is kind of like every other day! Many of the same prayers are read every day. Other prayers are cycled through the days of the week, and we come back to them time and time again.
Some have found the repetitive nature of this kind of praying to become rather dull. Some have said that it becomes “rote” and loses its meaning.
I’ve found that as you continue to pray the offices the words are able to become familiar enough that you don’t even need your prayer book. Most of them become engrained in your mind, and you can say them by heart. For me, this is where the magic happens. Once the prayers can move from something that you’re reading off the page, to something that has become a part of you, those prayers can become a foundation for a deeper sort of praying. A kind of praying where you don’t need to focus on every single word, but where your attention can move to God himself.
