🌱 Spring Greenhouse Tour, Seed Sowing & Garden Project Update | Exotic Gardening UK

Welcome back to Exotic Gardening with Yorkshire Kris! In this week’s video I’m spending some time in the greenhouse as we move closer to spring. It’s time to sow some seeds, check on plants that have been overwintering, deal with a few pests, and see which tropical plants are starting to wake up after winter.

Even though it’s a dull morning, the garden is already showing signs of spring with bulbs like hyacinths, daffodils and osteospermum daisies bringing colour back to the garden. Inside the greenhouse, plants like brugmansia, cannas and colocasias are beginning to grow again as the days slowly get longer.

In this video we will:
• Sow Pennisetum ‘Purple Majesty’ seeds
• Check on overwintered begonias, cannas, aeoniums and agaves
• Talk about watering plants again
• Deal with aphids in the greenhouse
• Look at plants that survived winter and those that didn’t
• Take a look at cuttings and propagation opportunities
• Check progress on the new structure being built at the bottom of the garden

I’ll also show the progress on the garden project, including the wooden frame I’ve built to mark out the posts and why I’ve chosen to put the treated posts directly into the ground.

Spring is just around the corner and soon everything will be growing quickly again, which means lots more sowing, potting up, feeding and garden work ahead!
