In this tutorial, I walk through a complete Rhino + Grasshopper workflow for generating a contoured waffle model from any complex 3D geometry, then automatically preparing it for real-world fabrication. The definition slices your form into orthogonal rib panels, generates clean intersections and tabs, adds panel IDs (X/Y numbering), and lays everything out onto flat sheets using automated nesting so you can export directly for laser cutting (with etched labels) or produce printable templates for low-cost hand fabrication.

The workflow is designed so you can drop in your own SubD/mesh/solid, control rib spacing, sheet size (A3/A4 or laser bed dimensions), material thickness, tab tolerances, label scale, and nesting seed, then follow an in-script fabrication guide to assemble with confidence. You’ll also learn a practical pre-fab checklist (checking overlaps, label placement, and a quick two-panel tolerance test) so you don’t waste time or material right before a deadline — and you end up with a clean, rigid model that reads like a real architectural construction system.
