The Gauhati High Court on Wednesday asked the Mizoram government to submit the amount of assistance disbursed under the Parking House Support Scheme (PAHOSS), the names of all the beneficiaries, the use of the assistance funds and other relevant information. Mizoram Chief Minister's Office today held a meeting to review the anti-drug campaign in Mizoram. The meeting was chaired by Home Minister Pu K. Sapdanga and Minister of Excise & Narcotics Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar. Secretary, Excise & Narcotics Department, Secretary, Home Department, IGP (HQ/L&O), Excise Commissioner, SP Narcotics and Central YMA Presidents were present. Excise & Narcotics Department and Home Department officials and Central YMA leaders were also present.
Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma said that Mizoram government has opened Excise & Narcotics Stations in Saitual, Khawzawl and Hnahthial in December 2024. Excise stations in Sairang and Bairabi railway entrances have been approved for opening 18 vehicles have been purchased and three LMVs have been allocated from Mizoram Government to meet the shortage. The Chief Minister said that 16 posts have been created to fill the shortage of employees in the Excise & Narcotics Department. By 2025, 319 cases of various drugs will be registered, he said.
Pu Lalduhoma said that drugs are the biggest enemy of the nation and the Government and the community should work together to fight them. Home Department, Excise & Narcotics and Central YMA jointly conducted Operation Jerico in 22 border villages on September 1, The value of drugs seized between September 1, 2025 and January 13, 2026 was Cheng Vbc. 196.42 crore was reported.
Home Minister Pu K.Sapdanga said that the Home Department and Central YMA's efforts to strengthen the Excise & Narcotics Department in the fight against drugs have a profound impact. He also thanked the Government for its cooperation in drug control in Aizawl as well as districts.
Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar said that Mizoram is attracting more tourists due to development in communication and transportation. Aizawl city center and surrounding areas are covered with drug addicts and unpleasant sights. He said that the Excise & Narcotics Department needs the cooperation of other Government departments, YMA and community in the fight against drugs and treatment of drug addicts.
Prof. Malsawmliana, General Secretary, Central YMA said that the opening ceremony was held on December 10, During December 10, 2025 and January 12, 2026, 192 drug addicts were arrested and 85 were admitted to homes. Central Anti Drugs Squad 24 was established on January 20, 2026 under Central YMA.
