Why Is Modern Poetry So Bad

While this video is titled 'Why Is Modern Poetry So Bad' it definitely focuses more on slam poetry trends and bad Instagram poetry from the 2010s (but I still think the criticism upholds!). As someone who has loved slam poetry (and was somewhat of a slam poet herself, I've noticed certain trends in online poetry, specifically Instagram poets, Instagram poetry, and Instagram poems) that make me call into question the modern structure of this art form. Why is rupi kaur made so much fun of? Why is Atticus popular? Why are so many Instagram poets the exact same brand of mediocre? I don't really say they're names, but I do basically ask these questions during the video.

Is Instagram poetry changing the landscape of poetry? Is this some sort of poetic revolution that will change the face of literature? Or is this just another victim of our obsession with surface-level content to gain online popularity?

this entire video is opinion based (with some cited facts) that are not meant to pock fun of your tastes, what you enjoy or specific individuals, but just reflect on my own observations :)
