Описание: Hi! My name is Chance Bartels. Some time ago on my other YouTube channel ‪@ChanceActingDemo‬ I shared a portion of this very insightful, fun interview. Here is the full LIVE version of this interview from Tuesday, January 7th, 1997.

Back in 1988 when I was 17 I had the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Larry King on his nationally syndicated radio show when I phoned in. Mr. King liked my name "Chance" and kept going on & on about it on the air. Some years later, Mr. King named a son Chance. I recorded that moment onto cassette tape from my stereo cassette player. One day soon I'll share that audio moment.

Anyway, you care about Larry Hagman or Larry King, so here is some information about this lively interview subject.

Mr. Hagman was born on Monday, September 21st, 1931 in Fort Worth, Texas. Actress Mary Martin was his mother. Larry Hagman's father, Benjamin Jackson Hagman, who was of Swedish descent, was an accountant and lawyer who worked as a district attorney. Hagman's parents divorced in 1936 when he was five years old. He lived with his maternal grandmother, Juanita Presley Martin, in Texas and California, while his mother became a contract player with Paramount in 1938. In 1940, Hagman's mother met and married Richard Halliday before giving birth to a daughter, Heller, the following year. Hagman attended a strict academy, Black-Foxe Military Institute, and briefly Woodstock Country School, a boarding school in Vermont.

When his mother moved to New York City to resume her Broadway career, Hagman again lived with his grandmother in California. A few years later, his grandmother died, so Hagman joined his mother in New York City. In 1946, Hagman moved back to his hometown of Weatherford, and attended Weatherford High School, from which he graduated. One summer, he worked for oilfield-equipment maker Antelope Tool Company. Although his father wanted Hagman to become a lawyer and join his practice, he was drawn to drama classes and reportedly fell in love with the stage. He graduated from high school in 1949, and decided to pursue acting. He attended Bard College, New York, majoring in dance and drama, but dropped out after one year.

Of course, Larry Hagman is best known for his roles in "I Dream of Jeannie" opposite Barbara Eden from 1965-1970 as Major Anthony Nelson (promote from the rank of Captain in the 1st season) and for his dastardly devious character John Ross Ewing on "Dallas" from 1978-2012. "Dallas" began as a 5 part miniseries on CBS on April 2nd, 1978. The ratings were so strong, that a full weekly television series chronicling the wealthy and powerful oil magnate Ewing family which lasted until May 3rd, 1991. There were 354 one-hour episodes , 1 ninety-minute episode & 2 two-hour episodes filmed during the CBS phase of the "Dallas" story. There were two reunion television movies produced in 1996 ("J.R' Returns" aired on Friday, November 15th, 1996) & 1998 ("War of the Ewings" aired on Friday, April 24th, 1998). Flash forward to Wednesday, June 13th, 2012 when the Turner Network Television cable network revived "Dallas" for a 3 season run. 40 installments were made of this next phase of the "Dallas" saga ending on Monday, September 22nd, 2014. Larry Hagman reprised his iconic role of John Ross Ewing for this T.N.T. cable revival as did many other members of the original cast. Lee Majors portrayed a new character in this version of the series. The T.N.T. revival was good!

Did you know that Larry Hagman had a long friendship with Carroll O'Connor? This relationship started in 1959 when Hagman was starring in the Broadway play "God and Kate Murphy" where O'Connor was working as an assistant stage manager. Later, as the two struggled as young actors, they rented apartments near each other in New York. Hagman's daughter Heidi, whom O'Connor had known since her childhood, joined the cast for one season of "Archie Bunker's Place." Hagman directed several episodes of O'Connor's later series "In the Heat of the Night." The two remained close after the death of O'Connor's son Hugh. Hagman delivered a eulogy at the funeral.

In this interview, Mr. Hagman opens up and discusses his life and acting parts in such other projects such as "Superman: The Movie" and "J.F.K." and in "Orleans", among other interesting topics.

Larry Hagman sadly passed away at the age of 81 on Friday, November 23rd, 2012. Larry King was born as Lawrence Harvey Zeiger on Saturday, November 19th, 1933 in New York, NY. Mr. King unfortunately expired at age 87 on Saturday, January 23rd, 2021 in Los Angeles, CA.

May Mr. Hagman and Larry King rest in eternal Peace.

This video is for fellow fans of the wonderful, humorous & wise Larry Hagman and the insightfully sharp Larry King. Enjoy.
