#Dhari_Devi_temple is located on the banks of the #Alaknanda River , just 14 km ahead of #Srinagar, #Uttarakhand.

Dhari devi is an incarnation of Godess Kaali and posses divine power.

ऐसी मान्यत्ता है की #धारी_देवी माँ पुरे दिन में तीन बार रूप बदलती हैं प्रातः काल कन्या का रूप , दिन में युवती और सांयकाल एक वृद्धा का रूप में |

The temple is home to the upper half ( head) of the idol of the goddess Dhari, while the lower half of the idol is located in Kalimath, near Rudraprayag.

She is considered to be the guardian deity of #Uttarakhand and is revered as the protector of the four piligrimage of Uttarakhand know as Gangotri, Yamnotri , Kedarnath and Badrinath.

Dhari Devi is one of 108 Shakti Sthals in India.

Due to a Hydroelectric project is being construction in Srinagar, this temple was falling under the drown prone area, hence 611 meter high platform was constructed just above the old temple to elevate idol of Godess,

On 16 jun 2013 due to heavy rain in himalayan region flood came in Alakananda river and level of the river has risen up very rapidly.
By the evening idol of the godess was about to submerge hence it has been moved from its original place to a elevated platform by priest of the temple.

Incidentally, Hours after the idol was moved, the region faced one of the country’s worst natural disasters in the form of multi-day cloudburst resulting in devastating floods and landslides washing away the entire kedarnath area and lower area of Ganga river.
