Northern Rail Class 158 816 operating a Scarborough to Doncaster service, filmed between Hull and Goole. This particular unit is fitted with a Perkins 2006 TW-H engine coupled to a 2-speed Voith transmission. It is almost identical to that of the Class 165 examples with Great Western Railway, with a top speed of 90mph usually changing gear around 57mph.
The first clip is a swift departure from Brough, with the following clip after 6:50 being a slower departure from Hull while still reaching the 90mph mark, gear changes being at 1:31 and 10:00. There is also a full Notch 7 to Idle shutoff at 9:20, before applying power again at 9:36 to reach the units top speed of 90mph.
