Here's one of the things that I've always done with very expensive gear. We're going on a trip here soon, and we're going to take a Pelican that's brand new. I've already pulled the inset out of it, I've actually got it outside, but it's got this pick and peel foam. And one of the things that you run into is the cases are small. You're trying to keep everything very small and you want to end up picking down to just one line of this foam, but this foam gets very weak if you do that. So how can you make that work without getting your gear injured or broken so that it works out in the size that you need? So you get the maximum out of these cases cause everyone knows they're not cheap. And, and it works for you. So let me show you a trick that I've always used. So here's our foam insert that we're talking about right here. And as you can see, I've got two of the very thin edges right here, and I've actually already put a coat of the plasti-dip or the plasti-spray on paint. This stuff gives structure to this, but there's another trick that you want to use when doing this. Also remember this is going to make your foam waterproof so that if you're using it rafting or anything to do with boating or diving, that'll make the foam where it won't suck up the humidity and possibly injure your gear. Okay? So we put our coats of plasti-dip on this thing. Now we're going to put these nails in there using our drill. It does help if you put a few, whew drops of WD 40 on the actual nail so that when you get it lined up and you put it in, it slides real easy, and that's really important. So use the drill just a little bit to drill in there. Be careful when you go in, you can feel it with your fingers, so don't stick the nail in your fingers, And then it just goes straight down through there. So what you want to do now is you want to take the nail out of the drill and then actually place it back into the spot you just drilled. And now that serves as a peg and a weight to keep this in line and gives it strength so that it won't come apart on you. Hopefully, especially not in the field. One of the things to look at right here is see, I've got one small piece right here. That's holding this together. So I'm going to toe nail this at the top. So of course, I'm just going to do my regular screw right here. I mean, nail not a screw, Put a little bit of WD on it. Get the angle, Try to get my hole started there. There we go. And get her pushed, Pull her out. These are all very critical. We're going to be rafting down the Grand Canyon, the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. And needless to say, it's going to be a little bumpy. So I need this stuff to really hold in for me also need it to be waterproof. So that's a positive all the way around. Now, we're going to go outside and put a couple coats of paint on this sucker. So you can see there, the nails, there's our toenail that we put in right there and then our other one on this other side. And so now we're going to get our plasti-spray and uh, go at it. So we got our coats of plastic on the foam. We put our nails in that holds the single lines. And this is what it looks like when it's finished. It really has a lot of strength. All of these pins that we got in here keeps these walls, especially right here where we toenailed to make that workout.
