The Past Continuous (also called Past Progressive) is one of the most commonly used tenses in English. It describes actions that were happening in the past or around the past time.
Structure (Form)
Subject + was/were + verb + -ing

Example
I
was
I was eating.
He/She/It
was
She was studying.
You/We/They
were
They were playing.
Negative: Subject + was/were+ not + verb-ing
Example: I was not working. / He wasn't coming.
Question: was/were + subject + verb-ing?
