Among the ruins of Heliopolis lies the Astrays developed secretly by ORB and it does not take long for different organizations to obtain the 3. Lowe initially gets the blue frame but Gai Murakumo quickly takes it for himself. But Lowe makes up for that mistake by getting the red frame and saving Mihiro from certain doom.
When the Evoluders appear and Leave nearly kills Mihiro, Kazuma finally decides to be a proper protagonist again and not only saves her but calls for a combination and the Valguard is reborn and ready to kick ass.
Oh, and Kazuma gets a painfully loving welcome near the end.
