Описание: Welcome to a new video series :) This one will be touring the rivers of the South Central Coastal region of California, with a few sites in adjacent regions. This video introduces the new series, describes valley confinement generally, explains why it matters, and then introduces you to Los Gatos Creek near Coalinga, CA USA. The site fits class 10 of the statewide river classification system and class 6 of the San Joaquin Tulare regional classification. I'll explain these systems in a later video. In terms of data, the values for the stream site closest to the video location are as follows: Ac 244, bf_d 0.24, bf_w 3.94, bf_w_d 16.48, CV_bf_d 0.15, CV_bf_w 0.31, D50 22.6, D84 128, slope 0.0111, vc_dist 112 where Ac = catchment area, bf = bankfull, d = depth, w = width, CV = coeff. of variation (used to evaluate undulations), vc.dist = distance to canyon wall (i.e. a measure of confinement).
