In this video I separate my Madagascar Jasmine (Stephanotis floribunda) from my Frangipani (Plumeria rubra). The two plants have grown in the same pot now for several years, however the Jasmine is now becoming too large and is starting to smother the Frangipani. I first cut back the Jasmine to make it easier to handle and also so that it will have a better chance of surviving being transplanted. With the two plants in their own pots they will no longer be competing with each other for space and nutrients and so should grow better in the years to come. I also prune my Frangipani to reduce the number of branches, last year I had to prune the Frangipani to fit it into a removals van which caused it to grow lots of little branches. These small branches are less likely to flower and are very congested once the leaves grow back. Reducing the number of branches will allow more space for each branch to grow without being shaded by a nearby branch.
