1)STP (802.1D) - Stands for Spanning Tree Protocol.
2)Why we use it ? - When you have single link between two switches. Their would be a reason of single link of failure, if your link get down. To overcome with this issue, we use multiple links between switches. And it will generate loops. So we use STP and Switch operating System automatically detects and block extra link by STP.
3)Tell me the STP Selection Process- Its going to be done in 3 steps.
1st ) Root Bridge - Focal point (Central Point ) of your network .
Bridge ID (lowest consider ) = Priority + MAC address
{By default Priority of Every Switch is 32768}

2nd) Root Port - Shortest way to reach Root Bridge.
Least Cost -- Depends on which link you are using ex. 1Gbps link cost - 4rs
Lowest Bridge ID
Lowest Forwarding port Number ex.(port 24 vs port 23). It will select port num 23.

3rd) Designated & Non Designated Port -
For Every Lan- Their is only one Root Bridge, rest will consider as non root bridge.
For Every Non Root bridge - Their is one Root Port.
For Every Root Port - Their is one Designated & Non Designated Port.

Warning Message -
I always use Cisco Packet Tracer/GNS mainly for configuration purpose. So what ever i have done in practical Lab, Don't do it in real scenario network otherwise your network will be down.
Just Remember These 3 mistakes to avoid in Real Network Configuration World -
1)First Troubleshoot and identify the issues then reboot your system.
2)Before you are going to reboot your system, confirm with your senior first.
3)Don't do any critical configuration in working hours, Otherwise your network would be down. Just Confirm with your senior and mainly Do it in your downtime .
