The Alvar describes the Lord of Vaikuntha the One adorned with radiant crown, conch, discus, sacred thread, garlands, lotus-like eyes, coral-red lips, lotus feet, and a golden-hued divine form. But the beauty described here is not merely physical. Swamiji explains that all these divine ornaments and attributes began to shine brilliantly only after the Lord united with the Alvar. Until then, they appeared as though waiting, waiting for this moment of union.

Swamiji beautifully explains the uniqueness of the Vedic understanding of Vaikuntha. Unlike other traditions that vaguely describe heaven, the Vedas, Upanishads, Itihasas, and Puranas provide detailed revelations of the Supreme Abode, its gardens, lakes, divine beings, experiences, and eternal bliss. Sri Ramanujacharya, in Sri Vaikuntha Gadyam, compassionately consolidated these scriptural descriptions to give us a vivid understanding of that transcendental realm.

Vaikuntha does not merely refer to a place. it refers to the divine community of liberated souls who eternally experience Bhagavan. The love the Lord showers upon all of them, He now concentrates entirely upon one devotee. This is the wonder that overwhelms the Alvar.

Swamiji says that the Lord is inherently Sarveshwara (Supreme Controller). Yet, from the Alvar's emotional standpoint, it is only after He blesses the devotee that His Sarveshwaratvam feels complete. Until He rescues and accepts the soul, that supreme lordship appears incomplete. With this union, His supremacy shines in fullness.

This part lays the philosophical foundation for the rest of the Dasakam, revealing the intimacy between the individual soul and the Supreme Lord, and the astonishing truth that the infinite love of Vaikuntha can be focused upon a single surrendered heart.
