Microsoft Excel Agent Mode: What It Does and How to Access It

Описание: Microsoft is rolling out Agent Mode for Copilot in Excel, and it's a significant step up from what's currently available. In this video, I walk you through exactly where to find it on both Excel for the web and Excel desktop, explain the difference between Chat and App Skills (and why that dropdown is going away), and show you Agent Mode in action.

You'll see Agent Mode apply conditional formatting without requiring you to click Apply, and then build a full dashboard from scratch, complete with PivotTables, charts, and calculated profit figures, from a dataset with over 2,000 rows and no pre-existing profit column.

I also cover the model options inside Agent Mode: Auto, GPT 5.2, and Claude Opus 4.5 from Anthropic, so you can choose which AI handles your task.

This is a paid Microsoft Copilot license feature, currently available in the Beta channel for desktop. I'll tell you what to expect if you're on Monthly or Semi-Annual Enterprise channels, and where it's likely to appear first.

If your role involves building reports or dashboards in Excel, this feature is worth knowing about now. Agent mode can tackle very complex and time-consuming tasks all on its own.
