Описание: Joey Kramer THROWN OUT of "Roosevelt High" FOR FIGHTS, Steven Tyler busted for GRASS IN THE LOCKER, Tom Hamilton BUSTED FOR ACID FIND IN "Sunapee" New Hampshire, Joe a Perry a DROP OUT. Brad Whitford MAYBE the QUITE ONE LOL.The 18 to 21 year olds BURSTING WITH A MEAN RUDE REPUTATION get together@"The Barn" in Sunapee making $30 a night jamming. It was after "The Bad Boys" from Boston played an astonishing show at "Max's Kansas City club", Clive Davis(president of "Columbia Records")signed Aerosmith for a record deal in summer of '72 to record their 1st LP "Aerosmith."The LP is overlooked upon compared to Aerosmith's later LP's.Solid, bluesy, and a heavy hard driven album."Dream On" was the song that made the album sell of course. What stuck out to me on this album was Steven Tyler’s "Kermit The Frog" muppet voice on all the tracks which does not sound anything like him on any other album after the first LP.Steven claimed that he wanted to disguise his voice to sound like an old bluesy singer of some sort.Steven and the rest of the band also said that they were so nervous when the red recording light went on that they froze and Steven had this nervous feeling which also makes his voice sound very different, he was very self conscious of his normal singing voice so he went with this "Kermit The Frog" nervous voice with these CAT SCREECHING ROCK'N ROLL VIBRATO LIKE SQUEALS which I love. His 1st LP voice reminds me of a young rock'n roll teenager boy trying to fight for those notes which makes him a pure bluesy rock'n roll vocalist.JK came up with the band name 6 months after the birth of the band, Summer '70 "Arrowsmith", from a book written by Sinclair Lewis.Tyler changed it to "Aero" meaning the future.I'm back tracking before the debut("Aerosmith" recorded fall '72 released Jan 5, '73),playing along to Aerosmith's early 1st known recordings of songs still being worked out during a solid rehearsal or soundcheck in Oct '71 2 months after Brad Whitford joined \A/(according to the party/band involved with the recording it was not a gig)recorded by \A/ roadie Mark Lehman on Joe Perry's Wollensak 3M 1280 reel-to-reel tape machine(possibly only 2 channels)(brought everywhere for recording purposes)he got in his teens from his parents for X-mas.Location of the recording not confirmed, but somewhere in Boston possibly in the basement of a women's dormitory with a elevator loading doc@Boston University not far from the bands apt. 1325 Commonwealth Ave.Steven said "lets put a demo tape down."No label contracts in the picture yet!I recorded this LP in 1 take to capture the vibe. The looseness in my performance comes alive.I've added a touch of delay on my amp to mimic that rehearsal room ambient rawness to it.\A/ original 6/8(hear someone count in)country-blues composition "Major Barbara" was it kept getting pushed down the list to be on an LP.Supposed to be on Aerosmith's 2nd LP "Get Your Wings" released March 15, '74, but remained as an outtake from the "GYW" session. The merry-go-round style song may concluded Tyler was inspired by the 1905 George Bernard Shaw play, per Perry.Debuted on an acoustic set with Perry on a lap steel guitar@"Academy of Music" in NYC Dec 3, '71 \A/ on the bill with "Humble Pie", and "Edgar Winter"s White Trash."\A/ booked by Winter's manager Steve Paul, he disliked the set and said something along these lines "you gotta keep rock'n for 20 min for the audience, not sit...come back in 6 months".An alternative version released on the boxset "Pandora's Box" released Nov 19, '91.Brad and Joe using Gibson and Fender guitars.I've seen a lot of early photo's of both using some sort of Gibson Les Paul Special's with P-90 pickups during the early Aerosmith years('70-'74)and Fender late 60's or early 70's Stratocaster's with Marshall and Ampeg amp stacks. You can see good photos easily online as early as circa '73.Check out Brad's Gibson Les Paul during early the 70's(70-73) looks like there is a custom paint job of something over the pick guard and neck pickup. It kind of reminds me of Jimmy Page's Fender "Dragon" Telecaster he used with "The Yardbirds" and early "Led Zeppelin".Also check out Aerosmith live on the Midnight Special '74 as you can clearly see Joe playing a black late 60's early 70's fat headstock Fender Stratocaster with a rosewood fretboard and a black Gibson Les Paul Special with P-90's, tobacco sunburst Gibson Les Paul Jr. and Brad playing a dark sunburst/tobacco sunburst like Gibson Les Paul Jr. with one P-90 pickup.I have also seen Joe use a white/cream late 60's early 70's fat headstock Fender Stratocaster with a maple fretboard. Kind of reminds me of "Jimi Hendrix's" Strat he played at "Woodstock" '69.
