This is a small guided tour of glacial deposits laid down by the Wisconsinan Ice Sheet in Huron County, Ohio. This video explores what was once a large rugged, boulder/gravel landscape to one of fertile farmland and hidden glacial features.
I know the video is a little long, but I hope you enjoy it. Introduction frame is small but rest of video is fullscreen.
There are a few height facts that I got wrong, but they are only the heights of the eskers. I should have done my 3D analysis prior to doing the videos, but hey....live and learn, right?
The eskers in Huron County range from 90 feet and 125 feet. The height of the largest Kames is 65 feet.
Ancient Lakes Whittlesey and Lake Warren dramatically shape our landscape and time has filled the ground with fertile soil for agriculture.
