Three things to consider when perfecting your brew are the freshness of your beans, how you store them and the grind size. The sweet spot for fresh coffee beans is between 5 and 30 days of roasting for the maximum, full-bodied flavor. To preserve the freshness of your coffee, make sure to store beans in an airtight container. When grinding your coffee or using pre-ground beans, make sure to consider your grind size. Too fine and you might get sediment in your coffee causing a dark and bitter coffee. Too coarse and you may get a weak brew, lacking in flavor.
