Welcome to this exclusive analysis of the drone power race between India and Pakistan. In this video, we present a detailed comparison of India’s $3.5–4 billion MQ-9B Predator acquisition and Pakistan’s fleet of Chinese Wing Loong II & CH-4 drones. We'll explore specs, strategic value, operational roles, costs, and regional implications.
India’s MQ-9B Purchase
In October 2024, India signed a $3.5–3.9 billion deal for 31 MQ-9B SkyGuardian and SeaGuardian drones, making it one of the largest drone procurements ever
Fifteen drones are allocated to the Navy (maritime ISR), and eight units each to the Army and Air Force for land surveillance and strike missions
These HALE (High Altitude Long Endurance) UAVs can stay aloft for 30–40 hours, fly above 40,000 ft, and carry Hellfire missiles and GBU-39 glide bombs
Deliveries will begin in 2029, with full deployment by 2030. Assembly and some component manufacturing will take place in India, though there is no technology transfer
Pakistan’s Wing Loong II & CH-4 Fleet
Pakistan operates confirmed fleets of Chinese-origin Wing Loong II (600 units) and CH-4 drones (initially 10+, bringing total to around 7 Army + 3 Navy) by 2024–25
The CH-4 has ~40 hours endurance, 330 km/h cruising speed, payload ~345 kg and supports AR-1, AR-2 missiles, precision-guided bombs, etc. Pakistan has ordered an additional 10 CH-4 drones in mid-2024
Wing Loong II is a Chinese MALE UAV with 20.5 m wingspan, range ~1,500 km, top speed ~370 km/h, payload ~480 kg. Operates across South Asia, Middle East, Africa in both recon and strike roles
