I've always held a special fondness for shooting 1911s. In this video, I shoot the Springfield 1911 A1 Loaded and compare it against the Springfield 1911 Range Officer.
I've shot the A1 Loaded many times before and it has become an old range favorite of mine. After several thousand rounds, it hasn't errored or hiccuped in any way. And, from a self defense distance (in this case, about 16'), I'm able to keep my groupings in the 8,9, and 10 rings, mostly. I do have a few fliers here and there, but overall, it performs as well as I'd hope if I were in a self defense situation.
The Range Officer is just what I'd expect from a Springfield 1911, only with more fine tuning. It's designed as an entry level competition 1911, and that's just how it feels while shooting. I did have to figure out how to align the sights (black rear and front sights and I was shooting a black bullseye target), but once I tweaked my sight alignment, I found it easier to be more precise with the RO than with the A1.
The Range Officer's trigger is where I notice the most difference. Right out of the box, it's a bit lighter and cleaner than the A1's trigger. The Range Officer feels just like what I'd expect from a Springfield 1911... it just does it a bit better. Buy Exclusive FoD Art Here: http://bit.ly/FODPICS PASSWORD: Destinee
