The Musica-choir, founded in 1977 at the University of Jyväskylä, Department of Music, is a mixed choir of around 36 singers conducted by its founding father Mr Pekka Kostiainen. The purpose of Musica choir has always been to entertain both the audience and also the singers themselves.
During its 35-year history the choir has performed a vast scale of music: folklore, music from Renaissance and Baroque, sacred music and music from present-day composers. The choir has always had an open-minded attitude towards new things and therefore progress both in technique and interpretation has been gained.
