Описание: Bhopal Jeep Series Ep. 1 Feat. The ICONIC original Ford GPW / Willy's MB manufactured in 1943. Bhopal as a city has been known more for its lakes as the “City of Lakes”, however to one’s surprise it also hails of amongst the finest original Ford and Willys Jeeps. This particular one is from the collection of Khusro Khan, painstakingly restored and trust me the work is still on-going for approximately 40 years. These are highly successful off-road capable, light, utility vehicles. Rumour has it that he did not part with the Jeep and trolley even for a handsome offer of Rs. 40 lacs.

The love for jeeps is also because they are tough and adaptable. Reporter Ernie Pyle wrote, “It did everything. It went everywhere. Was as faithful as a dog, as strong as a mule, and as agile as a goat. It constantly carried twice what it was designed for and still kept going.”

One of the few Ford’s that I have seen which is still on the 6 volt battery, so it’s original to that extent. Everything about this jeep and trolley is original and I am told that 10 years into restoration, Khusro Mian started day dreaming in reality and getting nightmares about this Ford. Restoration is extremely time consuming and requires a serious amount of patience. A lot of credit goes to the knowledge of mechanics, electricians, denting and painting shops who have the skill and understand these age old beauties. Sometimes as owners, we tend to forget the detail that goes into bringing these back to where it all started. Kudos to all of them.

A bit of history - During 1941 to 1943 Willys and Ford manufactured their own bodies, not very different from each other. In early 1944, both subcontracted their jeep bodies to American Central Body who built the so-called "composite body" used by both manufacturers.
