Galleri Is 99.6% Specific. That Doesn’t Mean What You Think.

Описание: Galleri, the blood test designed to screen for more than 50 cancers, just received a favorable FDA advisory committee vote. Its reported specificity is 99.6%, but that does NOT mean a positive test gives you a 99.6% chance of having cancer.

The number that answers that question is positive predictive value, or PPV. In PATHFINDER 2, Galleri’s PPV was about 60%.
