On Monday, March 16, 2026, the Fourth Week of Lent, today’s Word of the Day calls us to embrace a faith that trusts in God's promises of renewal and healing, even when we cannot see the immediate results. Through the prophecy of Isaiah and the powerful actions of Jesus, we are invited to believe in the life-giving Word of the Lord, which brings forth a new creation and restores what is broken.

🙏 Readings:

First Reading: Isaiah 65:17–21 — The Lord proclaims a magnificent promise: “I am about to create new heavens and a new earth.” In this renewed Jerusalem, there will be endless joy and delight, with no more weeping or distress. Life will be full and complete, and people will enjoy the fruits of their labor, living in the homes they build and eating from the vineyards they plant. It is a vision of ultimate peace and fulfillment in God's presence.
Gospel: Luke 4:43–54 — Jesus returns to Cana in Galilee, where He had turned water into wine. A royal official from Capernaum, whose son is near death, travels to meet Him, begging Him to come and heal his child. Jesus tests his faith, saying, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will not believe.” The official simply pleads, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” Jesus then declares, “Go; your son will live.” The man believes Jesus’ word and, on his way home, discovers his son was healed at the very moment Jesus had spoken.

🙏 Reflection:

Today’s readings powerfully connect the promise of a new creation with the faith required to see it. Isaiah paints a beautiful picture of a world remade by God, free from sorrow and filled with peace. This isn't just a distant dream; it's a promise that begins to unfold in the ministry of Jesus.

In the Gospel, the royal official embodies the struggle and triumph of faith. Driven by desperation, he seeks out Jesus. His initial plea is for Jesus to be physically present, to perform a tangible act. However, Jesus challenges him to a deeper level of trust. The turning point is not a visible miracle, but a simple, powerful word: “Go; your son will live.” The official’s decision to believe that word and turn for home, without seeing any proof, is a profound act of faith. He trusted in the power of Christ’s word alone. This story teaches us that true faith doesn't always need signs and wonders; it rests on the authority and love of the one who speaks. The new life promised by Isaiah begins when we, like the official, take Jesus at His word.

🙏 Application for Today:

Reflect: In what areas of your life are you waiting for a "sign or wonder"? Where is Jesus asking you to simply trust His word, even when you can't see the outcome?
Pray: Ask for the grace to have a faith like the royal official—a faith that believes in the power of Jesus' promise, even from a distance, and brings healing and new life.
Act: Identify one worry or problem you are facing. Instead of asking for a specific sign, offer it to God and trust in His simple promise: "I am with you." Live today in the confidence of that unseen reality.

🙏 Prayer:

Lord Jesus,
Thank you for your life-giving Word. Like the official from Capernaum, I come to you with my needs and fears. Strengthen my faith, that I may not depend on signs and wonders, but trust solely in your promise. Heal what is broken in me and in my life, and help me to walk forward confidently, knowing that your word is true and you are making all things new.
