Описание: In this TEDxYouth talk, Riley Barbour explores how music—especially musical theatre—has the power to bend time, preserve memory, and shape identity. From ancient Greek choruses to modern shows like Rent, Hamilton, Six, Dear Evan Hansen, and Wicked, Riley shows how musicals capture the fears, hopes, and conversations of their eras. Blending history, personal storytelling, and live performance, the talk reveals how theatre exists only in the present moment—yet stays with us forever. Ultimately, Riley asks us to consider how we measure our own lives, reminding us that while time always moves forward, music helps us remember who we are, who we’ve been, and who we’re becoming. Riley Madigan Barbour is a 15-year-old performer and student at the Franklin School of Innovation, where she explores her passion for storytelling on and off the stage. With nine years of experience in theater, Riley has trained in acting, dance, and singing, and has performed in numerous productions throughout her childhood. Beyond the arts, she is an active member of her school’s Model UN team, where she enjoys learning about global issues and collaborative problem-solving. Riley is inspired daily by her family, friends, and the animals she loves, and she hopes to continue using creativity to bring people together. Her TEDx talk reflects her belief in the power of music, connection, and the stories that shape who we are and what we have been throughout time. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
