Programming Notes
We are live the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. Our next show will be Thursday, June 12. Jonathan Boorstein will be our guest, talking about mental health among people who are older than me and Dawn. (That was the best way I could think of characterizing it. Jonathan may have other ideas.)
Last week, for Mother’s Day, my friend Amanda Kranz shared the heartache of losing her three-month old baby and the resilience she needed to care for her other children AND keep her daughter’s memory alive. https://www.neilparekh.org/post/ep-29...

“Things We Don’t Talk About” is a series of mental health conversations which delve into solutions for healing trauma and paths toward wellness. In the series, she covers topics ranging from intimate partner violence to intergenerational trauma, journalist Aisha Sultan shares personal case studies from within various communities.
She talks to mental health professionals about how the person in each scenario would seek help and begin a journey of healing along with the cultural and socio-economic hurdles various groups must overcome.
The series premiered on Nine PBS Monday April 28 and is airing weekly for its 12-episode run. The videos are also being uploaded to YouTube.
Aisha will talk about her own challenges and evolution as a mental health advocate.

Dawn and I launched this twice a month show (the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month) in order to help reduce the stigma associated with mental health. Thank you for being part of our community.
We are proud to be in Year 2 of the show. If you are interested in being a guest on the show or know someone who might be interested, please let us know. We’re looking for people who would be willing to share their story, advocates and people who work in the field of mental health.
We hope you can watch the show and share your own thoughts in the comments.
“Shining Light on Shadows: A Candid Conversation About Mental Health” is produced by Digimentors on a pro bono basis.
