On January 16, the Orthodox Church commemorates the Veneration of the Precious Chains of the Holy and All-Glorious Apostle Peter.
The appointed readings, Acts 12:1–11 and John 21:15–25, reveal God’s saving power and Christ’s personal call to discipleship. Peter’s miraculous deliverance from prison and his restoration by the risen Lord proclaim that no bondage is stronger than God’s mercy, and that love for Christ is lived out through steadfast faith and care for His flock.
