1. The footing is to be designed for a moment of 160 kN-m and a total vertical load of 320 kN. What should be the minimum footing width, in meters, to prevent uplift?

2. Given:
Total vertical load, P = 540 kN
Resisting moment, M = 1080 kN-m
The footing width is 4 m. How much is the allowable overturning moment (kN-m) such that there will be no tensile stress in the footing?

3. Given:
Resisting moment = 945 kN-m
Overturning moment = 315 kN-m
Total vertical load = 450 kN
Footing width = 4.2 m
Which of the following gives the maximum soil pressure (kPa)?
