So, the mission was simple: drain the pond halfway, scrub the liner, prune the marginal plants, and generally make things look sparkling again before the summer heat really kicks in. Simple, right? WRONG! 😂 As soon as I scooped out the first batch of water, the Dragon Guppies—who are seriously thriving, by the way, look at those vibrant tails!—decided to use the net as an obstacle course. They are so fast! I swear they were actively trying to evade capture just for the fun of it! Then there are the Goldfish. Bless their bubbly little hearts, they are so much bigger and lazier, but they take up *so much space*! Trying to gently herd three massive Shubunkins and a grumpy Oranda into the temporary holding tank felt like trying to herd cats on roller skates. 🐈‍⬛🤸‍♀️ The main drama came when I was scrubbing the waterfall feature—that’s where all the algae likes to hide—and a BIG chunk of detritus shifted, momentarily clouding the entire tank where the fry were hiding! Cue panic mode! 🚨 I had to use the turkey baster (yes, the one I use for emergency tiny shrimp feeding!) to gently suction out the worst of the debris while simultaneously trying not to accidentally scoop up any of the babies. It was a true test of my multi-tasking skills, and I nearly lost my footing twice trying to balance on the slippery edge! 😩 But don't worry, everyone survived the ordeal, and the results are genuinely stunning! The water is crystal clear now, and I even spotted a few new baby Guppies hiding amongst the freshly cleaned rocks! Sneaky little guys! 🎉 Seeing them all back in their pristine environment makes every second of muck-covered hard work worth it. Seriously, you need to see the difference between the "before" water—it was basically brown soup—and the "after" clarity! 🤩
