In search of ARAROMI OKE, a village that disappeared in just a day, we discovered something else...
. **For 91 years, ARAROMI OKE ODO, a community recently in the news on Yoruba Gidi TV, for a different reason that called for verification of facts and clarity, knew nothing about electricity power supply but for an intervention.
In the era of "up Nepa" this community wallowed in darkness until 2019 when a company, SHOLEP ENERGY LIMITED came up with an initiative to transform the potentials of the community through Solar power supply which came to reality on the 29th of October, 2023
However the fate of the ancient community would be determined by some factors such as Bad network of roads, overpopulation among other various misconceptions.
Engr. Olalekan Shogbesan clarifies that the power plant is not faulty; it was
deliberately shut down due to the rapid expansion of the community
and
the influx of people from neighboring areas.
Prior to commencing the project, a power audit was conducted, and
the
initial capacity requirement was estimated at 20kW. In response, Sholeb energy limited
increased the capacity to 50kWh. However, due to the continued
growth
and demand in the area, this upgrade has still proven insufficient.
Meanwhile, during our investigation, Director of Sholeb Energy Limited, Engr Olalekan Shogbesan further clarify that even the current 50kWh capacity is no longer sufficient to power the community effectively. This is primarily due to a significant increase in electricity demand. Many residents of Araromi Oke Odo have recently installed high-energy-consuming appliances in their homes, including electric cookers, air conditioners, and other heavy equipment.
This unexpected surge in load is placing a substantial strain on the power plant and affecting overall performance.
However, Sholeb Energy demand patience from the community at large, he reiterated both the youth leader and the traditional ruler of ARAROMI OKE ODO have been informed of the situation and he shall continue to engage with the residents to manage expectations and ensure proper communication.
Nevertheless, we urge the IFE SOUTH Local government council and Osun state Government to urgently look into the case of this community and provide a good road network for the residents.
