2025 Summer summiting 12 Colorado fourteeners in 10 days. Day 2 of 10. Torreys Peak 14,278 ft. & Grays Peak 14,275 ft. I parked along, I-70 and walked the extra 6 miles of rough road because my car was low clearance. It was a cold morning, and by the time I got to the trailhead, most of the vegetation had frost.
My Midwest lungs have not acclimated to the elevation yet. So you can hear me breathing as I go up the mountain. A fair number of people were on the trail. Some hikers noticed that I had a CDT sticker on my trekking Pole, so we talked about through hiking for a while since we were on the CDT Continental Divide Trail. Then I played my trekking Pole flute for them. They took a video of me playing.
Some happy little goats cautiously watched over us hikers as we summited. it was a great day for hiking with 15 miles under my feet, I was ready for a good rest for tomorrow's summit Quandary peak.
