How To: Noisy Groaning/Wailing Toto/Korky Toilet Valve

Описание: About a year ago one of our Toto toilet valves started making a groaning noise while the tank was filling. I replaced the Korky valve in the toilet tank and a year later it started making the noise again, as did another Toto toilet. Rather than just replace the valve I decided to try and fix it.

IMPORTANT NOTE: At the end of the video you can see the valve move slightly clockwise when the tank fills up. Although not stated in the video, make sure to gently turn the valve body clockwise until it clicks or doesn't move anymore after reassembly. This is because turning the valve anti clockwise moves it to an unlocked position that allows the valve body (and hence fill height) to be moved up or down. Turning it clockwise locks the height position.

WARRANTY CLAIM: Note that depending on which Korky valve you bought, they have a multi year warranty so if your valve is inside the warranty period you could try contacting them for a replacement.

UPDATE: Unfortunately as some people noted this repair does not always work, or may only be a temporary solution. It has worked for one of our toilets, but another one went back to groaning after a few months. I ended up replacing it with another Korky which did the same thing after a couple of months, at which point I decided to try to do a warranty claim since they warranty them for several years (there is a date code marked on the top of at least some of the valves). After a couple of email exchanges with customer support I was ghosted, so I'm not sure how well they stand behind their warranty, YMMV....
The sad thing is the original Toto branded valve which was supposedly made by Korky lasted way longer than the Korky replacements I have used.
