Some Core Muscle Injury rehab in a progressive sequence.
Once known as “Sports Hernia” and “Athletic Pubalgia”, the accepted term is now Core Muscle Injury and refers to an injury to any muscle or soft tissue that attaches to the pubic bone. The mechanism is usually explosive athletic movements. Classic signs: 1. Lower abdominal/pubic/groin pain with exertion that is relieved by rest but returns with sports related activity. 2. Recalling an acute increase in pain during activity, although pain was often previously present. 3. Pain is deeper and closer to the pubic bone than a hip flexor or adductor strain. 4. Pain is worse with sit-ups, kicking, sprinting or sidestepping. Many of these can be successfully rehabbed, but other require surgery.
