Woke up at 5 a.m. to get an early start on the trail. Checked out of the red cabin, but have one more night reserved in the white cabin next door. Dropped our car off at Dicks Creek Gap at 6 a.m. and got a shuttle ride for about 1 hour to Deep Gap in North Carolina to start the hike back to Dicks Creek Gap at 7 a.m. It rained off and on at the start of the hike, but fortunately, the trail was easy enough to hike with one trecking pole and hold an umbrella in the other hand.
Crossed the border between Georgia and North Carolina after hiking 7 miles in North Carolina. Just 8.5 miles left to finish the Georgia section!
Met a Dave Ramsey listener who greeted us with “better than I deserve” and then asked if we knew who says that. He’s debt free too and did a debt-free scream then counted down for us to do one too.
Didn’t get any mountain views today, but we made really good time, finishing at 3:30 (8.5 hours of hiking).
