This week’s route starts in Rancho Carrillo and heads inland to the summit of Double Peak before dropping through Questhaven and connecting dirt and trail segments across San Elijo Hills. From there the loop heads back west through Rancho Carrillo and finishes in La Costa.
This North County San Diego ride packs in climbing, panoramic views, flowing trail sections, and a mix of pavement and gravel — plus a bit of regional history along the way. From old ranch lands and spiritual retreat roots to modern master-planned trail systems, this route showcases how much variety exists in a relatively small area.
