We're back in Norfolk today for a walking tour through Wells-Next-The-Sea, a seaside destination visited by holidaymakers and tourists in their droves. Let's explore and see what it's like.

Wells-next-the-Sea is the quintessential North Norfolk seaside holiday destination, offering a charming mix of coastal beauty, traditional amusements, and a vibrant quay. The main attraction is undoubtedly the stunning beach, famous for its long stretch of golden sand, backdrop of Corsican pine woods, and, most iconically, the row of colourful, stilted beach huts. A day here is perfect for families; whether you're building sandcastles at low tide, taking a bracing walk to Holkham, or simply relaxing by the iconic beach huts. Even getting to the beach is a treat, with a pleasant walk along a raised bank offering views of the salt marshes, or a fun ride on the seasonal mini-railway or electric bus.

The heart of the town, however, is the bustling quay, which remains a hive of activity and a focal point for holidaymakers. Here, children and adults alike embrace the timeless seaside tradition of crabbing, or 'gillying', casting their lines into the harbour waters. It's the ideal spot to indulge in a classic seaside lunch—freshly caught fish and chips—while watching the fishing boats come and go, with the historic Granary building standing watch. Nature lovers and birdwatchers are spoiled for choice with the nearby Holkham National Nature Reserve, while a short drive to Morston Quay offers popular boat trips to see the spectacular grey seal colony at Blakeney Point. For a change of pace, the magnificent Holkham Hall and Estate is close by, offering stately rooms, parkland walks, and cycle trails. Wells-next-the-Sea perfectly captures the relaxed, family-friendly spirit of a traditional British seaside holiday, blending natural beauty with engaging activities for all ages.
