This short programme is made to assist people who are going to attend main hearing in the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) as a witness or Appellant, especially if they are going to do this for the first time.
In this video, I’ll explain the process and procedure of appeal hearings to assist the Appellants. The video is aimed at providing information to the Appellants who are legally represented, but people who are unrepresented may also benefit from this video.
It consists of the information that the Appellants’ lawyers/barristers provide, or should provide, before the hearing, in order to familiarise Appellants/witnesses with the hearing process.
Some of the topics covered in the guidance include: essential paperwork; dress code; arriving at the tribunal; adjournments; barrister conference; case listing; vulnerable witnesses; hearing room arrangement; pre-hearing discussions between the lawyers; the way to use interpreter and speak in court effectively; the order of evidence; video/remote hearings; and hearing dos and don’ts generally etc.
