Today we are going on a treasure hunt for that sweet old patina & paint under my old '66 C10's coat of primer. This truck (Bandit) has had primer on it since I purchased it, so I have no idea what I am going to find underneath. I am hoping for some great patina and old paint, but could end up being garbage and bondo, it is going to take some elbow grease to find out.
Let's tear into this thing and find out what lies below, and then come up with a plan accordingly for me to wet sand & shine it up or to paint the thing if this goes sideways on me. I need to get the bed on the truck ASAP, and I am thinking that will have it's own challenges in Part 2 of this paint/patina project.
For this project I used....
800, 400, and 220 grit sand paper (orbital & mouse style)
"fine grade" sanding blocks
Shop Vac
A lot of patience lol.
None of this is rocket science but it does take effort, so get out there and get after it!! Just go slow if you are unsure about the paint/primer depth, it is easy to burn through it if you are too aggressive. Take your time and do it right, again just treat this video as a guide only. Get wrenching my friends!
