A unique river experience! Come and witness with us the passing of the S.S. Sphinx through the Esna lock, about 33 miles south of Luxor on the river Nile. In this latest in our series of ‘slow-TV’ videos, keep an eye out for the tiny boats of the ‘hello men’ - vendors in rowing boats cheerfully yelling ‘HALLO!’ and throwing their merchandise onto the pool deck, then negotiating the price by yelling up the side of the ship!

I’ve left the audio in tact so you can hear the negotiations get more and more earnest as the ship completes it’s transit through the lock! The ingenuity and gamesmanship of these boat sellers is very entertaining as they barter with the guests at the top of their voices. Their insistence pays off too as they make quite a few sales as we are held captive by the lock! You won’t experience another river lock quite like this one! :D
