Lex has done some bad things to Chloe. Chloe has retaliated in kind. They are enemies. Lex is shot and dreams of a life with Chloe. When he wakes up he wants to be that man, but Chloe, obviously, still hates him. During one of her investigations, after breaking an entering, Chloe is infected with a gas that makes her have delusions and think she's going crazy. Lex finds her after she slits her wrists and wants to help her. He can relate about feeling like you're loosing it because of his own past. Chloe doesn't know what to think of this change in him. Chloe tries to leave, thinking she's doing better, but Lex stops her. Lex promises Clark that he'll find a way to save Chloe. He risks his life to test an antidote. When he comes out of it, he goes to Chloe and gives her the antidote. Lex is still very drawn to Chloe. Chloe is surprised when Lex kisses her and even more shocked that she lets him. She runs away, leaving Lex distraught. Chloe is confused about what she's feeling towards Lex. Lex, once again, risks his life to save Clark, this time. Chloe, in turn, risks her life to save Lex. Lex is by Chloe's side when she wakes up and is overwhelmed when she takes his hand in hers. I wanted a kind of hopeful feeling for the end. So there you go.
