Seven years off stage.
As a little girl, I was constantly corrected to stop being so “swany” with my arms.
Too soft. Too expressive. Too much.
Somewhere along the way, I started making myself smaller. More rigid. Less me.
I was embarrassed of my long arms… embarrassed of taking up space.
A few weeks ago, at 34 — after two pregnancies, a C-section, and major foot surgery — I stepped back onto the stage to perform a solo I’ve dreamt of since childhood: The Dying Swan.
And this time… I let my arms be swany.
I never thought I’d return to the stage at this point in my life. But healing — physically and mentally — brought me back. I am forever grateful for every person who helped me rebuild stronger, safer, and more confidently than before.
If you’ve ever been told to tone yourself down… to stop being “too much”…
Let this be your reminder:
It is never too late.
Not after babies.
Not after surgery.
Not at 34.
Not at 64.
You are allowed to come back.
You are allowed to evolve.
You are allowed to fully embrace your inner swan.
