This is the inaugural podcast of THE SANJAY SAHAY PODCAST, Unravelling
India. I am an Ex. IPS officer. The aim is to provide in depth, incisive and wholistic view of any issue, topic, scam, incident, accident etc based on expertise I have gained in over three decades as investigator, governance expert, practitioner, executioner, public speaker, writer and of late TV panellist.

Unravelling being at the core of this Podcast, the inaugural edition takes 360 degrees, chronological and tactical view of the biggest banking scam in India’s history. While there are any number of accounts of this scam, this happens to be the most complete; nuanced issues made simple, complexity laid threadbare and a ringside view, in one single narrative.

I am in conversation with Mr. Hariprasad SV, the external whistle-blower of the scam. He has lived and suffered the scam for over six years directly and even to this day in some form or the other. It starts with the initial days of the launch of Gitanjali, to Hariprasad becoming a franchisee, to his first smelling the rat and filing a case at Central Police Station, Bangalore.

The conversation further moves to Karnataka CID, ED, CBI, SEBI et al. His 2016 letter to the PMO, in hindsight is iconic. Despite that the MCA did a most shabby job. All regulators failed and so did the banking system. SEBI in was for forced to stop Nakshatra IPO. The LOU Scam comes to light in 2018 and Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi flee the country. The story further moves to complex investigation, action against PNB accomplices, seizures / attachments, extradition proceedings, the franchisees struggle to get back their money and current status of the case and of the extradition proceedings.

It is the most gripping documentary ever of India’s biggest banking scam.
