The selection process for SSC MTS 2026 (Multi Tasking Staff) is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit eligible candidates for Multi Tasking Staff (Non-Technical) and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) posts in various government departments.
1. Computer Based Examination (CBE)
The first and most important stage of the SSC MTS 2026 selection process is the Computer Based Test (CBT). The examination is conducted in two mandatory sessions: Session-I and Session-II.
Session-I
Numerical and Mathematical Ability
Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving
👉 No negative marking in this session.
Session-II
General Awareness
English Language and Comprehension
👉 Negative marking is applicable (1 mark deducted for each wrong answer).
Both sessions are compulsory, and the final merit is prepared on the basis of the normalized score obtained in the Computer Based Examination.
2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) / Physical Standard Test (PST)
This stage is applicable only for the Havaldar post. Candidates applying for the MTS (Non-Technical) post are not required to appear for PET/PST.
The PET includes:
Walking test / Cycling test (different standards for male and female candidates)
👉 PET/PST is qualifying in nature and carries no marks.
3. Document Verification (DV)
Candidates who qualify the Computer Based Examination (and PET/PST for Havaldar) are called for Document Verification. During this stage, candidates’ original documents are verified, including:
Educational certificates
Age proof
Category certificates (if applicable)
Identity proof
4. Final Merit List and Appointment
The final selection is based on the marks obtained in the Computer Based Examination.
Qualifying PET/PST is mandatory for the Havaldar post.
After successful verification of documents, the final merit list is released, followed by appointment to the respective posts.
