🎬 ABOUT FORBIDDEN 🎬

After their vacation affair leaves her pregnant, librarian Lulu Smith (Barbara Stanwyck) learns that attorney Bob Grover (Adolphe Menjou) is unable to divorce his invalid wife. Keeping the child's origins a secret, Lulu finds work with newspaperman Al Holland (Ralph Bellamy). Yet, after Bob rises to become mayor and the two secretly resume their affair, his wife persuades Lulu to relinquish all claims to the child and return to work for Holland, who she marries in hopes of keeping her past from sinking Bob's career. But when Bob is elected governor and Holland threatens to expose him, Lulu kills her husband to keep the past buried, leaving her fate in the hands of the state's new, and fatally ill, governor.
